Your Mission (should you decide to accept it)
The Blackfire.io team is looking for a DevOps “Robin” to sidekick the “Batman” we have working from his cave in the UK. Ideally, Robin should be located in Latin America, which would enable the duo to own the night (and the day) at any time on the planet.
We’re an international distributed team, in a challenging environment which relies on multiple technologies to offer high availability Software as a Service all around the world. A part of this team, under the supervision of our Senior DevOps, you will actively work on system operations and automated deployments, as well as participate in product development and support.
More specifically, you will:
-
participate in the administration of the Blackfire products and websites (availability, monitoring, deployment, performance, security)
-
participate in the product development and maintenance
-
participate in technical support to end users
Your expertise in Linux environments and knowledge of DevOps best practices will enable you to make recommendations and continuously improve processes and tooling. Batclaws and Batarangs are unfortunately not in the scope.
Your profile
You should justify of at least 3 to 4 years of experience in a similar job, in a start-up, enterprise or hosting company operating high-traffic websites or web platforms.
You master: Amazon Web Services (ec2, s3, cloudfront, RDS, route53), Linux, Chef or Ansible, Nginx, Postgresql, LXC, Docker.
You can write bash, Ruby and Python scripts.
You have fair knowledge of PHP, Go, RabbitMQ, Elasticsearch, Jenkins, Varnish.
Your English is fluent, other languages are a bonus.
A Batmobile/Batwing isn’t necessary, as this job will be remote.
The Company
Far from being Wayne Enterprises, Blackfire is a SensioLabs start-up. You will join a small team of passionate individuals thriving to bring the (not anymore) missing link in performance management to their users. Lead by Fabien Potencier, creator of the Symfony PHP framework, we all are in search of excellence in our respective skills and knowledge, and never hesitate on getting our hands dirty so the job is done. But we’re also a fun team which likes to share the knowledge it acquires, as well as low-level jokes and puns while doing our daily stand-ups on videoconference. A large part of the team being in the Symfony core team, we are deeply involved in Open Source communities and attend many conferences throughout the year.
