New User Interface

By Christophe Dujarric, on Mar 30, 2021

Good things come in pairs! Blackfire Monitoring just launched, and the next exciting item on the list is a massive overhaul of our user interface.

Introducing the Vertical Navigation

As much as the old user interface “does the job”, it is the result of nearly 7 years of small iterations and patches. And to be honest, adding new features on top of it started feeling like a Jenga game.

Especially, navigating in between environments and the various views (builds, profiles, monitoring, health report) had this clunky feeling.

Additionally, and thanks to the new Monitoring feature, Blackfire offers an increasing amount of data to display. It was time for us to take advantage of the fact that nearly 85% of our desktop users have screens with a width resolution above 1280 pixels (according to our Google Analytics data, 76% of users above 1440px).

We hope you’ll enjoy the improved navigation experience and the new display!

Transitioning to the new UI

As it’s sometimes just not the right moment to get new habits with a new user interface, you can for now either pick the new UI or stick to the old one. Or change as many times as you want.

We’d love to hear your thoughts, or if you face any issues! After a while, we will fully switch to the new UI.

What’s next?

We still have some overhauls in the backlog, both in user experience and UI design. More about this soon!

Happy profiling and monitoring!
