Preparing for the holiday rush is crucial, and ensuring your app’s stability is key. Whether you’re a seasoned pro or just getting started, scaling effectively and handling unexpected loads can make or break your app’s success. This is why the first Upsun live stream, recorded on September 6, 2024, was focused on getting ready for Black Friday and the seasonal sales.

Greg Qualls, Revenue Enablement Director; Guillaume Moigneu, VP Product Advocacy; and I, Senior Developer Advocate for Blackfire, discussed our best tips and tools based on our experiences.

Nelson Mandela famously said, “I never lose. I either win, or I learn”. The same applies to web applications in general and e-commerce in particular. And the most intense learning experiences can leave long-lasting scars that double into the most valuable lessons.

During 50 minutes, we discussed the need for load testing, replicating real-life traffic scenarios, working in isolation with a carbon copy of your production environment, observability to identify the weak parts of your application, and the utmost importance of correctly configuring caching to shield the servers for most of the requests.
