Summer ’19 Seminar – Work and fun!

By Christophe Dujarric, on Sep 26, 2019

As a remote-first company, it is key for the Blackfire team to meet in real-life, on a regular basis. Twice a year, we organize seminars over a couple of days.

Work

Last week, we got a chance to join our Summer ’19 seminar. It was a great occasion for some of us to meet in real life for the first time, as the team has been growing recently, with the arrival of Karl, Sümer and Diana (and more to be announced soon). Some couldn’t make it, but took part at least remotely. Hopefully they’ll be there next time!

After reviewing together the results of 2019, from finances to recruitment, product development to marketing, we focused on specific roadmap topics. Soon to be announced: two new languages support, and a long awaited feature/product. Stay tuned!

The great part of such gatherings and team brainstormings is to count on the background, experience and expertise of each and everyone of us. That also led us to voting and deciding together on some key elements of our product strategy.

Fun

This time, the seminar took place in Lyon. 3 of the team members are living there, and the rest of the team was hosted at an amazing location, which served as workplace at the same time. We enjoyed a breath-taking panoramic view from the top of le Croix Rousse, and a beautiful garden.

Fabpot himself turned from CEO to cook, Romain showed and recommended us all of the best places to buy the best local specialities (all 5 minutes walk away).

The whole team also enjoyed and e-bike tour in the beautiful city of Lyon, after a morning run/walk at the Parc de la Tête d’Or.

2 days of work (and fun), and 2 days of pure fun (well, some work chats as well…). We all came back home pumped up, and are excited to work on the next parts of Blackfire which we’ll offer soon to the community!

Happy profiling,
